TpT Super Sunday Sale is Over.....But....

What did you buy during this fabulous sale? Come on! Tell us all about those fabulous items that you just couldn't leave in your wishlist because there were such GREAT prices on everything!

I know I can't be the only one that spent money yesterday!

Oh...I see! You want to know what I bought. OK...Well I bought a whole lot of clip art to use in the great big long list of new products for my store that I have. So, what kind of clip art did I purchase? I bought monsters, math symbols, reading, bookworms, and a whole bunch of others. I just can't seem to list them all right now!

Be on the look out for more new items from me in the very near future.

Here are my three newest items that I have in my store at TpT. This first one was created due to a need by the Kindergarten and first grade teachers in one of my schools.

Now these next ones were simply created for my students use and they have enjoyed them tremendously. The writing prompts are written in such a way that students must use their imaginations. I have gotten some really GREAT pieces of work because of these prompts. This pack contains 32 writing prompt cards and 5 different publishing pages for students to use when publishing their work.

This last item is something that I've been working on for a couple weeks off and on. I had a vague idea of how I wanted it to look. It just took some time to see it come around to where I wanted it to be. This item contains task cards for three different literacy centers. They can also be used for early finishers or exit work. The pack includes 16 task cards for each of the three activities (Sentence Doctor, Solve the Analogy, & Fact or Opinion). Also included are answer documents and keys for each of the activities.

I have extended my sale on TpT for one more day. You can still get 20% off on all of my products through February 5, 2013. Drop on by and check them out and take some home with you. You will be glad you did and so will your students!

Time to Shake Off the Christmas Break

I know....it doesn't seem like it was long enough. Two weeks....couldn't it be just a little longer? Oh well....tomorrow is my first day back after the break and it is a professional development day. So....no kiddos or lessons.

But wait.....I don't have any kiddos or lessons until after Martin Luther King, Jr. Day because we (meaning myself & the other gifted teacher in our district) will be busy screening ALL the first graders in our district to see how many will be tested to participate in our gifted program. Last year, out of 45 students screened there were 24 that moved to the next level and were tested by the psychometrist. Out of those 24.....**drumroll** 19 of those sweet little babies made it into the gifted program. That is just the ones that were on MY end of the district. The other teacher I mentioned....I don't really remember how many she got in the end...but it was a good many.

So....I am wondering just how many we will get from this new batch of first graders.....Of course the teachers always think their students are the best and the brightest....we will see which ones make it!

Since today is my last day of *freedom* so to speak....I am working on a new Literacy Centers Task Cards packet for my TpT store. I am hoping to get it finished today so it can be proofed and uploaded to my store. This packet will have activities for fact & fiction, analogies, sentence correction, and of course....writing. There will be instructions for the kiddos and teachers as well as answer documents and that nice little answer key for all the activities included.

I know what you are thinking....does she make these items just for her store? Absolutely not! Everything I make, my students use in my classroom. Believe me....they are some tough cookies to please and if they don't like it...it doesn't get uploaded. This one I'm working on we used in the classroom before Christmas....I am just making a few little changes based on what I heard and observed while my students were using them.

Hope you all have a great week......

What's in Store for This Week?

I am beginning this week with a heavy heart due to the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary in CT. What makes it even harder is that as a Gifted Education teacher for my district, I will not have students this week because it is 9 weeks test time. So I can't see my students for an extended period of time and just hug them.

Oh...I will see them. Our school is small so that isn't an issue. I just won't have any extended contact with them in the classroom like normal. However, I will have the Christmas Program and Choir practice time with them....so that is something.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families in CT as they begin the process of laying their loved ones to rest. May they have comfort and peace.

Just 24 Hours Ago....

Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT was visited by the most devastating event anyone could imagine. Twenty-six angels entered Heaven's gates yesterday. Twenty of them were just babies.

I am having the hardest time wrapping my head around this tragedy. As I think about those babies and the teachers there trying to protect them, it just breaks my heart. I can't imagine how hard it must be for the families of these victims and the other children and adults that were at the school when all of this happened. Innocence was lost yesterday!

To all of the teachers, parents, and first responders in CT:

YOU are all HEROES!!!

My prayers and heartfelt condolences go out to all of the families of the victims, as well as the other children and adults that were at the school. It will take some time for everyone to heal after such a horrific incident.

Fellow Teacher Paying It Forward

I know....I don't usually post two days in a row. But, I just couldn't let this go without a post. As I was scanning the TpT forum last night, I came across a post from a fellow TpT seller post. Now all the title said was: "Paying It Forward". Well.....me being me....I just had to open it up and see what it was about.

I was floored......or maybe I should say....I was totally inspired!! This teacher talked about how at this time of year there is always a lot of evaluation and reflection. I think we all do this. However, she has taken it one step further. Because she feels she has been truly blessed, she has made a decision to choose one product in her store each month and give 100% of the earnings to an organization or cause. She is beginning this month. That is right....her first act of "Paying It Forward" will begin with December 2012. She has chosen a product from her store to be the lucky one. The item is called .... Elf Yourself....she says this one was chosen because it already had quite a few sales since December 1. Now I've given you an overview of the "Pay It Forward"....so I will now tell you this teacher is Amy at Teaching in Blue Jeans. Her chosen organization to receive the donated funds for December 2012 is Go! Ministries. Hop on over to Amy's blog - Teaching in Blue Jeans and read the rest of the story.

Here is a photo of the teaching item from Amy's store that will be generating sales for donation to Go! Ministries thanks to Amy. Click on the photo of the Elf Yourself and it will take you to Amy's store where you can purchase this cute teachable item.

This just touched my heart so much that I felt I should write a post about it and get this out before all my followers.

Please consider purchasing this item. It is only $2.00 and 100% of Amy's earning from the sales will go to Go! Ministries to help feed school children.

Thanks to all of you!! Have a great week!!!
